The DEID/ Duke-EWB community has recently lost a former president Abhinav Kapur much too early. He devoted his life to service and was finishing medical school at the University of Chicago. His friends have reached out to help our current project in Nkokonjeru, Uganda where Abhinav had worked in 2008 on a biomass charcoal project for cooking stoves. We look forward to completing the construction of our water tank this summer in his memory to help just one of the several communities he dedicated his time to helping.
DEID will be hosting a table at Springternational this Friday (4/13)! We'll be selling traditional foods, drinks, and crafts from the countries that DEID has worked in the past few years. Look for our table on the Main Quad and BC Plaza.

Our El Salvador and Bolivia projects have joined forces to compete for Duke ChangeWorks. If they receive the most votes, they have a chance at winning $5,000, which would greatly help us to implement our designed projects during this upcoming summer!
Duke ChangeWorks is a competition that sponsors ideas from undergraduates that spark social change. We believe that our bridge construction projects in El Salvador and Bolivia address the important issue of rural isolation: a condition that can unjustly restrict economic and educational opportunities to whole communities.

Dear EWB, We'd personally like to thank those of you who could make it out last night to the elections. All of the candidates represented themselves and the chapter very well, and as a result all of the races were really close!
